I’m Dave.  I struggle with transableism, often otherwise known as Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID).  This blog deals with what it’s like for me to live with BIID.  I feel very isolated at times as my family doesn’t yet know about it and there aren’t many people in the world with BIID.  It’s still a little-known and not very well understood condition, so I hope this blog contributes to better awareness of it.

Some general info about myself: I’ve worked in IT for a number of years now (yes, The IT Crowd is one my favourite shows).  It’s a position I enjoy, and I have a nice sunny office overlooking a green space in town.

Hello-IT-Have

I also run around after my very energetic kids, and do a bit of gaming – ok, alot, or at least as much as I can manage with kids running around.  The Legend of Zelda series is one of my all-time favourite franchises.  In my spare time (if I get any, that is), I doodle and draw comics.

I’m not the most athletic person (no IT nerd jokes), but I do like skiing in the winter.  I’ve started dabbling in car mechanics.  I can take a computer apart and put it back together – shouldn’t I be able to do the same with a car?  Mostly, I’ve just figured out how to change a flat tire, but, hey, there are always more Youtube tutorials to go through so maybe I’ll work my way up to other things.

Welcome to my blog!  Feel free to leave a comment on any of my posts or email me directly if you have any questions or just want to talk.
